Room 9

 

Kia Ora Tatou everyone and welcome to Room 9's page.

 

  We are a class of Year 6, 7 & 8 students and look forward to an exciting

journey of building learning and faith. 

As a school with multicultural ethnicities we are privileged to share our story and culture. 

The Special Character of the school will be the focal point of who

 we are and what we do at St.Joseph's Catholic School. The charism

of St.Mary of the Cross will continue to be fostered across all

curriculum areas and the school life of every student.

 

 

Welcome to Term 4

Our topic for  term 3 and term 4   is The Big Event.

We have worked hard on listing big events in our life,in the community and in the world. We are working on a hypothesis that explains our big question we are researching. The information researched will be presented in a format that suits our type of multiple intelligence learning.

In Term 3, we were involved  in different groups on Fiafia night on Thursday 29th September. We had a fabulous night and we danced to Samoan music, Tongan music, Line Dancing music, Bollywood music, Cook Island music and Social Dancing music. 

 
 
 
 

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

In Religious Education in Term 3, we had been talking about The Teaching Church and identifying the attributes of  Jesus as a teacher to people. We have compared Jesus, the teacher with teachers now days and their attributes.

In Term 4, we will be studying about the Communion of Saints.

 

NUMERACY

In Maths in term 3,we had been learning about Fractions.

Our learning intentions were-

* adding fractions with same denominators,

*comparing fractions to show equivalent fractions

We are also learning about Statistics and how to display information in different types of graphs.

Our next topic will be decimals and how to convert fractions to decimal numbers.

In Term 4, we will be reviewing Addition and Subtraction knowledge / strategies.
