Scottish New Year

New Years Eve is celebrated around the world. TheScots have a special word for New Years Eve it iscalled Hogmanay. The most important part of this big event is to welcome friends and strangers withwarm hospitality. Another Scottish customcelebrated at New Years Eve is “First Footing” (that is the first foot in the house). To ensure good luckfor the house the first foot should be a man withdark hair. Tongan Funerals

Tongans have specialceremony performed after a family or friend

has passed away. This big event brings family and friends together to farewell their loved one.After the burial they share a feast and give gifts such as Tapa matsand money to show respect. They give these to the family that has lost a loved one. This big event lasts onewhole day and the men wear black armbands and the women black hairties.

Traditional ceremony in Namibia

Wika is based on the carnival celebrated in Germanys Rhine Valley.Namibians that celebrate the Wika carnival parade through the streets of Windhoek. The parade starts off at 11 am on Bahnhof Street, and goes onto Ausspannplatz where it ends. During the carnival, there are many festivities, and performances.By Juliana Lam
