Over this term we will still be working on our topic The Big Event. We have brainstormed our ideas and written our own questions we would like to study. This is new learning for us and we will very hard on researching information to answer the question.

One of the Big Events we were involved in our own Fiafia Night  on  Thursday 29th September. We were in different groups such as Bollywood, Samoan group, Tongan group, Social Dancing, Line dancing and Maori group. We had a fantastic time and the school raised alot of money for resources we need.

Home Learning Sheet- Each week your child will bring home a Home Learning sheet that has different activities on it for your child to complete. to learn as well as reading. There will also be topic homework and other work from time to time.

Maths -this term is Addition and Subtraction. We will be reviewing our work from Term 1. We will be working on our knowledge / strategies with the stages we are on.

We will be learning more basic facts, so we can be very fast at our additions and subtractions.

We bwill also be learning our 2, 5,10 times tables. We are setting goals to learn more timestables.

Our writing -this term is report writing  and writing notes for information. We will be looking at different types of genres that we can write well.  We have been working on our Aranui project research and presenting our work to the class. We are self assessing our work and ooking for the next steps.

For Religious Education we are studying Communion of Saints and Life, Death and Christian Hope . We have read about Pandora and opening the box with hope left and know this is what God gives to us in our lives. We have been talking about what makes us sad and other words for our sad times (e.g. worried, miserable )

We will be lighting our Advent candle soon and working on the meaning of Advent.

Our Value of the term  is "Do Your Bit." or compassion.

We are learning new jobs in the school such as being Librarians, looking after the Secret Garden and we look after smaller students in our school especially on the playground.

We have been planting tomato, corn, onions and strawberry plants in the garden. We water them every day and hope the birds or students won't eat the new strawberries.
